Friday Fun!

In reading this week, our focus was finding the main idea and supporting details in a story. We read Busy as a Bee, Animal Teams, and A Team of Fish. The main idea of each story was: Animals working together in teams. We learned the ee and ea vowel teams as in "seed" and "leaf." Our new High Frequency Words were: because, blue, into, or, other, small.

For math, we finished topic 8: Place Value and took the quiz today. Next week we will focus on comparing two digit numbers on a hundreds chart and by using symbols.

We continue to read more complex stories together and independently. The children completed their own animal reports with a partner. Soon, the goal is to be able to read the book and complete the recording sheet independently!

100th day- Friday, January 31st- Wear Red for the 100th day of school.

Valentine's Day:
On February 13th, the children will be passing out Valentines during school. We have no school February 14th because of a staff in-service day.

1. Make A Mailbox @ Home
Please use a large shoebox or other box/ bag to make a Valentine’s Day mailbox together with your child at home! Spend some quality time together and be creative. Make the opening large enough for cards & candy to fit.  In years past, kids have made the lid detachable to open and close, so the child doesn’t have to rip open the box to get the cards out.
2. Write Out Valentines
Use the class list (came home Friday) to write names on Valentine cards. Attaching candy or small toys to the cards is allowed. Remember to include everyone! We will not be eating anything at school, everything will be sent home.

3. Bring Both to School When Completed, by February 13th. Earlier is fine too
