Conference Sign Ups

Students work in different  centers everyday. This group is reading books on Raz-Kids. Remember to log into Raz-Kids at home too! Their passwords are on the back of their folders.

In phonics this week, we learned the lone e sound of y (puppy) and ey (key). The students learned the HFWords found, hard, near, woman, would, write. Our essential questions was: How do people work with animals? These are the stories we read: Saving Mountain Gorillas, Koko and Penny, and From Puppy to Guide Dog. We focused on sequencing stories (first, next, then, last) and finding the main ideas. I showed the children the National Geographic Kids website about animal research. A few asked for the link. Feel free to browse Nat Geo Kids at home! https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/

In math, we learned to draw models of two digit numbers to add. We even worked on the beginning steps of carrying by saying "circle it to make a ten." If there were 10 or more cubes, we circle the ten and carry that number into the tens place, Have your child show you at home! Can they do these math facts: 57 + 24, 62 +49.

From Avon Lake Police Officer Brian Hurd:
There has been an ongoing problem in front of Redwood Elementary in regards to the pick up at the end of the day.  Traffic is getting backed up causing issues for parents that are trying to make a left turn into Redwood’s parking lot from Redwood Blvd.  There are a lot of students from the high school that travel this way and other residents that live in the area however do not pick up at the school.  In moving forward to correct this problem, we need your assistance.  Please travel north on Moorewood Ave. and make a right turn on to Redwood Blvd. in order to make a right turn on to the school property.  By doing this, we will alleviate westbound traffic going through and will not be impeded.
Please note that Officer's from the Avon Lake Police Department will be patrolling the area more regularly over the next few weeks in order to enforce this.  Thank you for your understanding as we attempt to change the traffic pattern during dismissal.
